Mindfulness in the moment
One of those mornings when you get up late…rush the start to the day… race to get things done… and end up completely discombobulated – no mindfulness.
I threw myself into the river, swam, got out and then felt completely cheated. I had cheated myself. With my racing – I had ‘missed’ my swim. Sure I had been in but without mindfulness I had missed the experience entirely. Too cold to get back in and swim again I sat for a while on the river bank and consciously soaked in the day. Breath in peace and calm…release all the dross, tension and crappy racing around. After all race around for what?…nothing…. That’s what. Rushing – total waste of time. All it does is build up tension, stress and adds to anxiety and sense of going ‘nowhere’ … fast.
Note to self – learn the lesson.
And so I sat…watched Heron come and go… observed the water, listened to its song as it swirled downstream…not rushing, just taking its time, going at its natural pace…going with the ‘flow’
And I breathed it all in… and felt the magic work…felt the sense of calm begin to flow through me…
Lot to be said for mindfulness in the moment… just being…no rush…
On the way back along the river path I came across this Heather – that certainly hadn’t ‘rushed’ to flower…and now it was enjoying being… singularly standing out this morning…just being…
