Chilly swim

Chilly swim at the river this morning…in the hail. And as though that not enough….ended up running in it too – to get warm…although mindfully living in gratitude for heating working, its still pretty darn cold… So there I was running in the hail – to get warm?! Wacky or what?

The quote from Dylan song –‘…some people walk in the rain others just get wet.’ All took on another level. And yep have to admit – once you are ‘out’ and warm…then being in the hail was pretty amazing…

Wondered what the mindful message was …and it occurred to me that a small hail stone – hurt – bit like thoughts and situations in life…but what do  you do in the hail?

You have a few options:

You can stand still and get really cold and let the hail get to you.

You can take shelter and wait for it to stop – but you may get cold…and cold wait a long time ‘ stuck’

Or,

You can keep moving, even if you are being pelted – and in a funny kind of way, end up enjoying the experience, the connection to ‘life’.

Reckon life is the same. Things that can ‘sting’ as in life, situations, emotions, thoughts…can all really get to you. But as with the hail you have a choice. You can hide away, works, but you can feel ‘stuck’. You can ‘freeze’ in a state of paraylsis and really feel like everything is too much to bear. Or, you can keep moving forward…maybe even enjoying the experience, knowing that there is some learning within it if you look and also knowing that eventually the hail storm, the situation, will stop. Dynamics will change, eventually you become aware that you have arrived at a new place…

Food for thought…meanwhile here’s to running, and swimming, in the hail!
