No Cages
No Cages…Mild start all be it dark and foggy. By the time that I got to the river though the fog had started to clear. Fish were leaping in the water this morning – perhaps celebrating Yule and the fact that the days are now ’officially’ getting longer??
May have been ‘warmer’ on the river bank, but the water has not caught up with the few mild days that we have had…and still has the bite of temperature having been below 0. Much needed though, clearing away the debris of the ‘old’ and opening the way for the ‘new’ – For me this feeling is much more apparent at Yule rather than the Gregorian calendar’s ‘New Year’
What old debris, perceptions and limitations would you like to release to free you and open you to the new?
Cages come in different shapes and sizes…some even have the illusion of being a ‘natural habitat’ but they are cages never the less. I haven’t ever liked cages…and like most people I suspect, feel for the animal, bird and even fish that are contained and restrained within one.
I also dislike proverbial cages around myself. I know…I have tried them. Some consciously, others subconsciously. Both ‘sorts’ equally debilitating and emotionally stifling.
Funny thing is though, how many people place a cage around themselves? Not necessarily a physical one, but it may as well be. A cage made up of emotions, limited perceptions of self and potential, thoughts and behaviours.
Some peoples ‘cages’ are more apparent than others and some are ‘prettier’ but they are more often than not, there, regardless.
Well it doesn’t have to be…
How about time for some honest self appraisal? – If you were to reflect on the cage around yourself, how big is it? And what are the bars made of? What is it that you fear or what perception of lack or lack of self worth/self esteem do you carry?
Ever seen an animal in a cage that has been driven mad by the experience. It paces, it loses its mind and is a shadow of its true nature…it gives up on life being any different. In effect that is what can happen to you. Each and every person on this planet is unique. An amazing individual, with a dream, a purpose that they can access. Why allow yourself to be caged and buy into limitation and the associated emotions of frustration, fear, despair…
How would your life potentially be different if the cage were to be made ‘larger’ or I it were to disappear altogether?
Food for thought today… release the old and open for the new… as the days get ‘longer’
Enjoy your journey X
