Female Lead Characters In Dimensions
Female Lead Characters: Lovely bright start all be it a tad on the chilly side. May Day though! Had to get a swim in somewhere. Glad I did, a few minutes after getting out of the water in began to hail and the clouds swooped in, making for a totally different day.
May Day – the day for females leaping through the fire, sky clad and embracing their divine feminine… also for me, the day to reflect on female characters in films today. How many films that have female leads actually, when you look deep, are simply a male character in a female body? I’m talking about my own genre, Fantasy / Sci Fi in particular, where female leads are often a female acting like a man, seemingly devoid of compassion and femininity.
This is something that I’ve written in, or more to the point written out, of my heroines in Dimensions. The heroines – there are different ones within each book/series – are real authentic women…and guess what? They embrace their path of evolving into a strong character who can knock some sense into the evil force of the Matrix Lord, who yes..is a male! I make no apology for that!
Not that I am some staunch feminist, but the evil forces in Dimensions are those that are alienated from nature, from emotions and are out to control and subdue humanity in all sorts of grizzly ways, had to be male driven and I make no apology from that. Not to worry, the partner to my heroines part, is man enough and stands for all the great things to be found within a rugged, tough guy!
My female leads though feel their way through their journeys. Vulnerable, aware, feeling, multi dimensional characters who step into their destiny with courage.
And although my work is ‘fiction’ the message applies to real life too. Embrace who you are, emotions and all and unravel your destiny!
