Grounded?
What a way to get Grounded… Swam in the hail this morning. Wind still ferocious after the fierce storms that blew overhead last night…but aside from the water levels no sign of the storm having been by the river – trees appear to have stayed put, save for a Gorse bush that has taken on a peculiar lilt.
What do you do if hit by a proverbial storm?
There is a lot to be said for staying ‘grounded’
Excess energy in the form of sudden trauma or shock wave of emotions, has to go somewhere. Being grounded –means that this energy has an outlet – the Earth. You are in effect well rooted and able to stand the buffeting winds, just like those trees that bend in the winds. There are a multitude ways of getting grounded, the infamous one in energy work being to visualise roots going out your feet into the Earth…but in truth there are an infinite ways – river plunging amongst them!
Being grounded doesn’t mean that you don’t ‘feel’ – the trees still feel the pull from the wind after all. What it does mean however is that energy that causes imbalance within your energies, within your body and mind, has an outlet and can dissipate rather than becoming stuck, rattling round your body and causing a state of dis – ease.
How do you know if you are not grounded? Well roots have a two way effect. The connection to the strength and security of the planet and simultaneously draw in nutrients and vital energy to nourish. Not being connected to Earth therefore can results in emotional and physical discomfort. Tiredness, headaches, nausea, trouble sleeping, stress, tension, lethargy, feeling ‘fuzzy’ or ‘spacey’…the list goes on!
So…how about checking in with yourself and strengthening your being and getting more ‘grounded’?
Visualise roots, connect to your body and connect to nature…Earth.
As I type this…the sun is aspiring to come out…probably means that somewhere above there is an amazing rainbow, a sign of positive things…so let’s get truly grounded, connect to Earth and go and find them!
Enjoy your day and journey X
