Limbo Land
A Limbo Land wet and foggy start to the day. A day when it doesn’t really feel like a day at all. Another of those January days when it doesn’t really appear to get light and your brain seeks for a break in the clouds and for the sun to shine through. Kinda reflects that feeling inside of yourself when you feel that you are unable to ’see’ a way forward. When you feel that you are exerting all your energy in treading water You feel exhausted and seem unable to move forward with things.
Not that you don’t have a vague plan – but that ‘plan’ is all dependant on something happening first…’I will do that when this happens….’ Or ‘When there is movement with that, then I will be able to decide…’
All well and good. That may be the case and it is perfectly fine if you are aware of your thoughts and emotions and don’t go beating yourself up that you are ‘stuck.’
Limbo Land is a strange place to visit. Short term it is fine and can be fun. The feeling of ‘in between places’ can be exhilarating, you can feel liberated, free from one status quo and happy in the anticipation of something new growing. If this doesn’t happen as soon as you had perceived however, Limbo Land can be less inviting. Uncertainty can build and become almost treacherous…self doubt and turning yourself inside out looking for the way forward…exhausting. Limbo Land no longer feels exciting and freeing, it feels draining, lonely and empty.
The truth is you are not missing anything. It’s not that you have made the wrong decision, or missed an opportunity. It simply isn’t quite the ‘right’ time for the new to unfold. Yes you have shifted from one paradigm, but you haven’t quite landed in the freer more expansive paradigm that you were headed for…doesn’t mean it wont happen…just that you have to stay focused, not give up and not forget how good and ‘right’ it felt when you left the old paradigm behind. If you were right then – you are still right now. It’s just that physicality has to catch up with the shift in you.
Feel and process any fear. Fear and doubt can and will pull you back to the old status quo. Like the pull of gravity…they will pull you back into the old pattern and the old way of being…if you let them.
In the words of Winston Churchill in his infamous, if not shortest public address.
Never…Never….Never…Give up!’
