Keep Going!
Keeping Going isn’t always as easy as it sounds. You have an idea, make a plan and start to put that plan into action. Maybe it is a goal or dream that you have had for a very long time and finally getting it going feels amazing.
This can initially feel like this is it! You can have the assumption that from now on things will fall into place and before you know it you will be ‘living the dream.’ Perhaps for some it is like this!? But the truth is for most of us this isn’t the case at all! The truth really looks more like: wading through the mud, overcoming unexpected obstacles, learning new skill sets in what ever way they show up as being necessary and spending a lot of energy and time into your goal and feeling at times like you are not actually getting very far!
Then your energy can start to wane. That sneaky nasty voice in your mind can start to have a field day, telling you that perhaps it wasn’t such a great idea after all and that it is too much to do and far too much of a demand on your energy and ‘time.’ Then, that nasty voice draws your attention to all the other people ‘out there’ that appear to be doing what you long to do, and what is more, they are making a great success of it! As such what hope is there for little you starting out??
So what do you do when this happens?
Do you listen and quit right there?
No, you listen, thank the voice for its input and keep going!
Keep making those steps forward and recognise each small triumph along the way. Reminding yourself that each time you feel doubt and discomfort then it is a chance to dig deeper, tap into more resilience and the opportunity to build ‘muscle’ like you would if you were training for a sport. Build muscle that then makes you a stronger person who is not only wiser, ‘fitter’ in the sense of being up for the challenge that you have set yourself but also and most importantly of all, you have built the muscle that will help get you to the finish line!
So take a breath…and keep on going!
