Path less traveled
Path less traveled: Running in the snow today…with the sun glistening on the powder it took on that almost blue hue in the sunlight…totally breath taking. Found myself playing foot print detective as I followed the track. To begin with there were the footsteps of a fellow dog walker and two massive dog print tracks … then we ran past where they had cut off and for a while had the luxury of clear untouched snow. There is something really special in feeling that you are the ‘first’ person to go that way…can only imagine what it must be like to be an explorer chartering new territory!
Enjoyed that experience for the rest of our route through the forest. Only tracks then being a couple of rabbits… a pony and what looked like two deer…
Reminds me of the idea of following the ‘Road Less Traveled’ and the poem by Robert Frost:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
One of my favourite poems…Love it…so rich with meaning…
We are all life explorers walking the ‘path’ and it takes courage sometimes to follow our heart and go with the path that our heart whispers is the right one for us, especially when this leads to the ‘unknown in that it is seemingly ‘less traveled’ and unchartered territory.
Head and logical thought can take great delight in pulling us back to ‘our senses’ and giving us the 150 reasons why it is a ‘bad idea!’
Thing is however, if it is a heart chosen, Soul path, then it will be magical…and what is more…at the end of the journey of life, we may well reflect back at the paths ‘not chosen’ but there will be no regret. I for one intend to be looking back with a smile on my face feeling enriched, fulfilled and having a ‘wow what a ride!’ glow of inner expansion.
We have one life, let’s make it an awesome one.
Namaste
Enjoy your journey X
